In this Special Interest Group we will focus on location research, identifying the resources available for the places where our ancestors lived and made records. Time must also be considered in identifying those resources and we will discuss that as well. This SIG is entitled Location Research, with an emphasis on Pennsylvania, because Location is important to all genealogists and the emphasis on Pennsylvania is based on the special interest of the host, Janet Keating McNaughton.

The Oregon Trail extended approximately 2,000 miles from Independence, Missouri to Oregon City, Oregon from 1840 to 1869. More than 50,000 people traveled to Oregon and a great number died on the journey. This talk will cover resources for conducting research on the people and their lives along the trail.
